Research:
I am currently working on the MotherMouse project (funded by FWO, with prof. dr. Rudi D’Hooge as my supervisor and prof. dr. Guy Bosmans as my co-supervisor) which mainly focuses on understanding the interplay between early life stress, mother-child attachment and brain—region-specific gene expression and how this in turn impacts the social, emotional, and cognitive development of the infant into adulthood. I combine relevant mouse models, a multitude of standardized behavioural tests and next-generation RNA-sequencing to answer our research questions.
